If you travel overseas, you are always offered travel insurance by your travel agent - but how good is the cover?

Often claims for baggage loss or damage are settled on a depreciated value basis taking into account the age and usage of the items claimed leaving you to make up the difference in replacement costs. The cover limit per item is often $500, which may be insufficient to cover jewellery, sporting equipment, and purchased property for their full value. Usually there is no cover for loss or theft of money.

We can offer you a policy that covers baggage on a full replacement basis for up to $2,500 per item and $10,000 max. per person and money cover up to $1,000. It also covers the accident excess applicable to a rental car up to $2,000 plus other extra benefits. The premium cost however is similar to that charged through travel agencies.
